Holidays

Back to work this week :)

We’ve been on holiday with our new (to us!) folding camper to Wales and then the kids have been at Grandma and Granddad’s for a few days. It’s been heaven!

Glad to have them back though.

Inside!

I put up some more shelves yesterday and finally cleared the floor enough to got our “new” Conway Cruiser inside the garage!

There’s not a lot of room…

Camping!

Conway Cruiser folding camper

We have just returned from our first trip camping as a family and it’s been great. The only downside has been dealing with the kids who were too tired as a result of not enough sleep!

We arrived at Bracelands on Friday evening around 6:30 and set up the camper. This was nice and easy and we were finished within an hour. We then had spaghetti bolognese and the kids played with some other children until we got around to putting them to bed at around 10ish.

We were woken up on Saturday at about 5:30 when Ben and Jon woke up and started squealing. Yours truely got up and took them for a walk to get them away from the campsite until breakfast time. After breakfast we wandered up to the camp shop for some odds and ends and then headed out to find the River Wye for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we went to the Perrygrove railway which proved to be one attraction too many for the kids who were tired… Back at camp, I cooked a superb fry-up for tea! After the kids were in bed, G and I watched the sun set over the valley which was great.

Sunday was pack up day. It took us about 2 hours to get the camper packed up and hitched to the car. Next time we’ll be faster!

All in all, an excellent weekend.

New Arrival

I am very pleased to be able to welcome Eleanor Beatrice into our family! My cousin, Anna, gave birth late last night to a healthy baby girl weighing about 6lb.

I’m as pleased as punch :)

10 Years!

10 years ago today, Georgina and I got married! It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by already and they have been great! Our relationship now is better than when we started and I’m looking forward to our next 10 years together.

One year down, many more to go!

Yesterday, Jon completed his first year at school. I can’t get over how much he has grown up over this time.

When he first started, he was quite shy and very nervous about going into School in the morning. The teachers have been excellent and now he is much more confident in all aspects. His reading and writing have come along very well along with his numeracy. I’m very pleased so far.

Now of course we have six weeks of him kicking around the house…

Swigging Like a Pro!

Last weekend we met up with some friends from the Internet at The Observatory restaurant in Leicester. This is a logical place to meet up as it’s roughly central to where we all live.

The whole point of this entry though is to highlight this picture of Ben swigging his drink like a pro!

Easter Weekend

This weekend has been very busy for us.

On Friday we went to the Severn Valley Railway with Tim and Ben. This was a good day out, as Ben’s been ill and so Jon and Ben have been cooped up in the house for the last week.

On Saturday we met up with Tangerine Cath and her family. She’s a friend of Georgina’s from *ages* and *ages* ago! We had a good meal and it was great that the kids all go along fine.

Sunday, was our day in the house, and Georgina cooked a lovely roast dinner. I also got a lot of fences painted! We also took down the stair gates as Ben is more than capable of getting up and down himself now.

Today we went to Hanbury Hall for a run around and a picnic lunch. We then came home and I did more fence painting (all finished now!) and also picked up some more sand for the sand pit. You can tell that Summer is coming!

Cleaner

I washed the car today with Jon “helping”. You don’t really notice exactly how dirty it is until you start cleaning it, then it gets a bit embarrassing! Afterwards, I’m not sure you’d say the car is now showroom clean, but it is certainly cleaner :)
