Too. Much. Work.

The last fortnight has seen me doing too much work. At work, we have ended up in a bit of a pickle with too much work needing to be done in too short a time. The solution for the last couple of weeks has seen me working every evening.

That stops now for a little bit though as it’s unsustainable.

One of the biggest problem is that I’m so tired as a result of working every evening and it’s been coupled with Ben and Jon waking up too often at night with nightmares. Clearly it’s not just sleep you need to be relaxed, you need to have “downtime”. Of course, me being me, downtime involves computing but it’s completely different when I’m doing stuff for me!

Update: G would like me to point out that I’ve worked weekends too…

Dentist

For the first time since 1991, I went to the dentist for a check up :)

The dentist spent all of 5 minutes checking my teeth and commented that he could see why I hadn’t bothered for 15 years! Due to the way keeping registered with an NHS dentist works, I have to have another check up next year though.

A Quick Trip

As the weather looked good today, we popped out to Hanbury Hall for a picnic. On this trip to the hall, Jon and Ben were fascinated by the ducks on the lake, so we spent more time by the railings than we have before. The ducks must have thought that we had food for them as they got out of the water and waddled up to us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t oblige so they returned to the lake empty-beaked.

Holidays

Back to work this week :)

We’ve been on holiday with our new (to us!) folding camper to Wales and then the kids have been at Grandma and Granddad’s for a few days. It’s been heaven!

Glad to have them back though.

Inside!

I put up some more shelves yesterday and finally cleared the floor enough to got our “new” Conway Cruiser inside the garage!

There’s not a lot of room…

Not a lot of room!

Camping!

Conway Cruiser folding camper

We have just returned from our first trip camping as a family and it’s been great. The only downside has been dealing with the kids who were too tired as a result of not enough sleep!

We arrived at Bracelands on Friday evening around 6:30 and set up the camper. This was nice and easy and we were finished within an hour. We then had spaghetti bolognese and the kids played with some other children until we got around to putting them to bed at around 10ish.

We were woken up on Saturday at about 5:30 when Ben and Jon woke up and started squealing. Yours truely got up and took them for a walk to get them away from the campsite until breakfast time. After breakfast we wandered up to the camp shop for some odds and ends and then headed out to find the River Wye for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we went to the Perrygrove railway which proved to be one attraction too many for the kids who were tired… Back at camp, I cooked a superb fry-up for tea! After the kids were in bed, G and I watched the sun set over the valley which was great.

Sunday was pack up day. It took us about 2 hours to get the camper packed up and hitched to the car. Next time we’ll be faster!

All in all, an excellent weekend.

New Arrival

I am very pleased to be able to welcome Eleanor Beatrice into our family! My cousin, Anna, gave birth late last night to a healthy baby girl weighing about 6lb.

I’m as pleased as punch :)

10 Years!

10 years ago today, Georgina and I got married! It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by already and they have been great! Our relationship now is better than when we started and I’m looking forward to our next 10 years together.
