Georgina was ill, so I took Ben and Jon up to Jenni and Tim’s for Jack’s 4th birthday party yesterday and Ross’s Christening today. It was a good weekend, however both Ben and Jon missed their mummy and were very insecure.

Weekend
I’ve just realised that I forgot to provide an update on last weekend!
Well…
Georgina and I went to Blackpool for the weekend to meet up with friends we met via BritLore. Basically the plan was to go to a hotel and spend all weekend chatting and drinking and that’s exactly what happened! We had a great time meeting up again with old friends and making new ones. BritLore is over 5 years old now… it’s weird to think that some of the longest friends we know in “Real Life” we first met over the Internet.
Lest you worry, we left Jon and ben in the capable hands of my Mum and Dad and they had a great time!
Oops
Texas appears to have just outlawed marriage…
HJR 6, an ammendment to the Texas constitution contains this:
Sec. 32. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of
the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may
not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to
marriage.
Now..
(a) clearly defines “marriage” to be the union of one man and one woman.
(b) states that the state may not create any legal status identical to marriage
I’m nearly sure that’s not the intention, but that’s what it says!
(I wish I’d worked this out on my own, but I got it from here.)
Edit:
Having talked to my friend about this, she reckons that as marriage cannot be identical to itself this is legalese for saying that the state cannot create a legal status identical to but not including marriage. I think all lawyers should be shot :)
Fireworks!
Last night I took Jon to see the fireworks display at Worcester City Football Club. He quite enjoyed it, but wasn’t happy with the bangs that the fireworks made. Most of all I think he enjoyed the “naughtiness” of being allowed to stay up past bedtime!
Sleeze
Seems that the current Government is no better than the end times of the last one after all.
I dunno why Tony Blair bothered with implementing the Ministerial code as it has no use. David Blunkett has acknowledged that he broke it, and our Tony has said “never mind, let’s ignore what I said before”. As usual, the politicians look after their own at the expense of public perception of the political process. It won’t be long before politicians replace estate agents at the bottom of the public trust tree.
*sigh*
