Trip

I took Ben and Jon down to Enfield, whilst Georgina stayed at home to try and get over the bug that Ben kindly gave her.

We met up with Mum & Dad, and also Jen, Tim and the kids at a place called the Antiques Village. It was holding a special Halloween weekend and had done up the place with various tombstones and manequins dressed as eerie characters. There was a few fairground rides aimed at the under 7s and a “haunted” train ride through the woods. It was all really done well. We had lunch there and then Jen & Tim left for the long drive home.

Jon, Ben and I then went back to Mum & Dad’s where I fixed a couple of issues with Mum’s computers whilst Jon had fun with Dad’s railway. He’s getting quite good at operating the controller at speeds other than “full” which is nice!

Ben's Not Well

Ben has managed to be ill all week :( He seems to have a mild flu-like virus according to the doc. He’s also managed to pick up an eye infection. As a result, Jon’s half-term week has been seriously curtailed as Ben hasn’t been up to doing much.

We are supposed to be going to my mum & dad’s this Sunday, but unless Ben improves dramatically tomorrow, it’s likely to be just me and Jon going.

Kids

Has anyone else noticed that children have it in for their parents? Take last night…

We go to bed late for a variety of reasons and so it’s about half past midnight before I’m asleep. Sometime around half past four we get woken up by Jon having a nightmare…

Oh well.

Croome Park

We went to Croome Park today for a walk. Now that it’s October, the weather is getting a bit iffy, but we now have a nice wooly hat for Ben and Georgina is intending to get herself one shortly to keep her ears warm. I think next time we go out, I’ll take my gloves – the wind was a bit chilly!

Croome Park was quite good. It starts out with you walking though a series of shrubberies which were in the process of being restored. I think it’ll take at least 10 years to get all the plants mature enough for these bits to be anything like how Capability Brown intended. At the bottom of the path, you go under a bridge and come to a lovely lake. This bit was very impressive and made the entire trip worthwhile.
