Whilst looking for related bugs about using an external editor with Mozilla/Firebird, I discovered Mozex which does 90% of what I want – just no keyboard shortcut…

Woohoo! I’ve successfully modified Mozex so that I can just press F9 to bring up the source code to the current page in my editor :)
